2- In recent years, some saffron producers have started growing saffron in a greenhouse method, where they feed the saffron bulbs outside the soil with special methods and harvest the saffron. Undoubtedly, the quality of saffron grown naturally in the ground is much higher than in greenhouse saffron. Although in appearance, this type of saffron may be better than the saffron cultivated in the agricultural field, without a doubt, they do not have the quality of naturally cultivated saffron in terms of aroma and color. Some fraudsters sell this type of saffron as quality saffron and sometimes they mix this type of saffron with naturally grown saffron and sell it to buyers.
3- Another case of fraud in saffron is selling saffron produced last year as saffron produced this year. Every year, after the harvest of the new crop, the price of saffron increases slightly, and some fraudsters sell last year’s saffron, which definitely does not have the quality and durability of the new product, to the customers at a new and high price. Some other fraudsters mix last year’s saffron with this year’s saffron and sell it as this year’s saffron to their customers at a high price based on the new price.
